The BWT WS355 is a cabinet water softener developed for UK homes. Fourteen litres of ion-exchange resin remove the calcium and magnesium that cause scale, while the electronic controller meters actual water use and starts an upflow regeneration only when the resin capacity is used, keeping salt use at 1.2–2.4 kg per cycle. BWT’s rotary valve has few moving parts, and settings are held for up to 72 hours in a power cut.
At 602 mm high, 270 mm wide and 480 mm deep it fits most kitchen base units. It is supplied with a 15 mm hose and valve kit (3/4″ BSP inlet/outlet, 1/2″ drain) for gravity or combi systems; supply pressure must be 1.7–5 bar and water at most 49 °C, with service flow of 25 l/min and 30 l/min peak. Building Regulations Part G require an unsoftened drinking tap, usually the kitchen cold. It runs on a 220 V transformer at 12 V and takes tablet or block salt.
