The BWT Perla Silk M (PS15UK) is an ion-exchange water softener in a sealed, cupboard-sized cabinet (276 x 470 x 596 mm). It holds 15 litres of resin and a 16 kg salt reservoir, and its controller regenerates only when the metered water use requires it, using about 2.0 kg of salt and 105 litres of water per full regeneration. A symbol-based display needs only time, hardness and recharge time to set up; a brine check valve guards against overfilling.
It is fitted on the rising main after the stopcock, with a 13 A socket nearby for the 12 V transformer and a drain/overflow route. Supply pressure must be 1.7–5.0 bar and water temperature 5–30 °C. The supplied 22 mm valves and flexible hoses suit gravity and pressurised systems up to 22 mm; UK regulations require a separate unsoftened drinking-water tap at the kitchen sink.
