HomeBoost is a small inline pump fitted straight into the incoming cold main. When it detects low flow it runs its brushless motor to bring the supply up to 12 litres per minute, the maximum allowed by the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations for direct boosting, and goes idle when the mains delivers enough on its own. Status lights on the front show what it is doing.
It is aimed at mains-fed homes and combi boilers where the problem is low flow rather than very low pressure; it needs at least 3 l/min of natural flow to start and is not suitable for gravity systems or for feeding an unvented cylinder. Fit it in a frost-free place on pipework that is supported above and below, with the supplied strainer on the inlet, isolating valves either side (Salamander’s CHBFIT01 kit) and a fused spur with a 3 A fuse. Check with the water supplier before boosting a mains supply, as UK rules restrict pumps drawing directly from the main.
