The Monsoon Universal U3.0 is a twin-impeller peripheral pump that boosts the hot and cold supplies equally, built with a brass pump body and brass impellers. ‘Universal’ means it starts on both flow and pressure, so it works in positive-head installations and in negative-head ones where the shower is above the cold tank. It delivers up to 3.0 bar at closed valve and around 1.9 bar at 18 l/min.
It is for UK-style vented systems with a cold storage tank and a hot cylinder, feeding a shower, a bathroom or several outlets; it must not be connected to a combi boiler, an unvented cylinder or the mains. Before buying, check the tank capacity and the cylinder feed, that the pump can sit on a level, accessible floor below the tank with 22 mm feeds (a Surrey or Essex flange is often needed on the hot draw-off), and that a fused spur with a 5 A fuse is available.
