The Elson EOS7 is a small vented (open-outlet) storage water heater that hangs above a sink and holds 7 litres. A 3 kW element (2.75 kW at 230 V) heats the water, with a thermostat adjustable from 10 to 70 °C, and the cold supply is taken through the inlet control valve supplied with the heater. The unit is 356 mm high and 240 mm wide and weighs 9.3 kg when full.
Being vented, the container is never under mains pressure: hot water leaves through the spout of the heater itself, the outlet drips slightly while heating and no other tap may be fitted on the outlet. It suits a single hand-wash or kitchen sink in an office, workshop or holiday let. The cold main (or a cistern with at least 3 m head) connects in 15 mm pipe to the control valve, and the electrical supply needs at least 1.5 mm2 cable through a double-pole isolating switch. Elson recommends setting the lowest acceptable temperature and draining the unit if it may freeze.
